I love doing arts & crafts projects with my kids, but for many years it felt like a hassle to get projects started with the supplies stored all over the place and tucked away in different cabinets. While my house looked clean having the supplies stored out of sight, this also meant out of mind for my kids! I wanted to create an organized storage solution for our supplies that was also easily accessible and visible for the kids so they would start projects on their own. I searched Pinterest and other sites and found a few suggestions for mobile art carts and decided to give it a try.

The cart I purchased was from Target but you can get one at many different stores. I love this rolling cart currently on sale at The Container Store. If you want to spend more money you can buy a version that comes fully loaded with separate bins for all the supplies. I chose a more affordable option using simple Target Sterilite bins to store loose items like glitter, glue, pom-poms, and stamps. Then, I used hanging Ikea containers to store markers, pencils, pens, and scissors. I added an old basket on top to store coloring & activity books. Construction and origami paper is simply stacked on one of the shelves for easy access.
The cart lives in our main room in the house which is an open kitchen/living room. So, it’s easily accessible and even gets lots of compliments from visitors (which I am looking forward to having in my house again post-COVID). This art cart will be a great addition to your home learning area to keep your kids occupied and busy this year!
